Fort Nelson Tiger Cannon Keyring
This high-quality metallic keyring features one of the most iconic items in the Fort Nelson collection.
Found in Karnal Fort in India in 1838, the Tiger Mortar (object number XIX.119) is made from intricately designed bronze, fashioned into the shape of a sitting tiger with its teeth bared towards the enemy. It was probably part of an arsenal intended for attacking the British, but despite its lush design the weapon remains unfinished and unfunctional. The Tiger Mortar is part of the Royal Armouries collection and is on display at Fort Nelson in Hampshire.
