Armour (tosei gusoku) (1800-1899)
A gold-lacquered, red-laced tosei gusoku (modern armour, meaning the later structures of armour that were made from the Sengoku period onwards), probably drawn together from a mixture of older and more recent components during the 19th century. The helmet carries an elaborate shishi crest. Japan, Edo period, 19th century.
